2 weeks into new job...and I'm still standing!  Ideas come to me in the middle of the night and then I fret I won't remember them later!  Maybe this gig will work out?

Hall bathroom is now smaller than original due to all the paint applied in the past 2 weeks - but I think it's done!  Woo Hoo!
Have talked to all 3 seestors within the past 24 hrs - YEA!
Fambly time coming up - can't wait to see everyone.
Went to libary (yes, libary) and got found info on how to file umemployment claim - must find time to work on that!
Have harvested 1 cherry tomato and 1 pepper from plants.  Not a green thumb yet - sort of a puce color.  But I do have a couple of green San Marzanos!
Back yard thermometer says 94 degrees - wait - is that a boy band?
Peace out.

What's scarier than a middle-aged Johnson County housewife setting off the alarm at a house that isn't hers?  TWO Johnson County housewives setting off the alarm!  Criminals will like this but - I don't like house alarms - especially when you have to go into someone elses house (Drew) to take care of the dog (Sonny) and the alarm goes off.  We thought we had disarmed the alarm only to discover we SET the alarm so all of our activity in and out with the dog was upsetting to ADT and so the Mission Police were called.  They were understanding and I hope this was the highlight of their day.  Is the alarm set?  Will it go off again?  I don't know but I'm glad I'm not going back.

Things that I've noticed now that I'm unemployed and spending way too much time at home:
1)  lots of people on my street get FedEx and UPS deliveries.  I got one - severance package!
2)  the house creaks alot.
3)  I haven't turned on the TV at all - it's OK to be in the quiet (relates back to #2)
4)  I have lots of good ideas - just rarely put them into motion.

On another note - I scared a baby blue jay out of the bush at the front of the house and now I'm worried about him.  Last time I saw him he was hopping along through the neighbors yard - the neighbor that has 2 cats.  Hop Baby J - HOP!

Happy Fathers Day.  What I would wish for on this Father's Day is that my dad's shingles would disappear and that my dad could start golfing again (related to the 1st wish.)  Men are important role models and I wish that all men would realize that being kind, compassionate and considerate was just as important as being a "guy" or a "manly man."

Goals for the week - FINISH THE BATHROOM.  I have a painting project in my head - can I actually make it real?  Continue cleaning the basement - have a pickup scheduled for the 1st week in July to get rid of stuff - YEA!  Contiue to cook and catch up on reading.

Officially unemployed for about 1 day.  Yesterday for dinner I made steak on the grill along with potatoes, onions and peppers.  We ate outside since the weather was so nice.  I took Henry to work today as we're going to the Royals game tonight.  I'll get our tailgate together and pick him up.  Have already read the paper today, finished the NYTimes crossword puzzle and have cleaned the kitchen floor to extreme (swept with broom, then dry Swiffer, then wet Swiffer and finally Swiffer wet jet - no this isn't a commercial for swiffer.)  I logged on the computer (personal only - no work!!) and activated a gift certificate that Henry got so long ago it has lowered in value by $6.  Also found out that one of the school jobs I applied for over the weekend has been filled - oh well, there are others.

I just have to keep reminding myself that right now I'm on vacation and will be for the next month - I knew there was a reason I didn't use up all my time off.  Maybe on Friday I'll take a page from mom and dad's book and go grocery shopping at Wal-Mart....or maybe not.

All is good.

Sorry no posts lately - but emails have kept everyone up to date on AZ activities.  One week from today it all turns into StL activities!  Yea!  Mom has wedding clothes picked out and dad is working on his uniform now.

Memories of AZ - bobcat sighting, sheriff sightings! that neighbor moving out today, blooming cactus, talk of underwear, heat, rain, walks, naps (not me - just mom & dad)!

OK - back to fun stuff.  Here's today's question - what is you little guilty pleasure now that you're older.  Mine is standing at the refrigerator and eating both black & green olives for snack.  At one time I was married to someone who didn't like me to even buy olives since he didn't like them.  I'm at a point now where I realize olives aren't THAT expensive and I can treat myself whenever I want to (I even buy the big martini green olives - they are AWESOME!)

And speaking of green olives - here's my wierd guilty pleasure - having dad feed me a big green olive off a toothpick at cocktail time in AZ.  I do sometimes peep like a bird.

(I'm now embarrassed that I admitted to any of that!)

This bliggity blog was supposed to be fun and silly....but I would like to say thanks to my mom and dad for being frank about their mortality, having estatest set up and having us 4 girls sit down and decide things prior to being forced to make decisions.  Henry's family dealt with death like an ostrich - with their heads in the ground.  This is the type of thing that could divide a family.  Ugh - no fun

The title of this is "Am I A Smart-Alec or Am I Trying To Bring Levity Back To Work?"
Speaking of bringing things to work (do I sound like Groucho Marx?)...
Some "brain surgeon" who works for QBE decided that our office (and I'm going to assume ALL the offices ALL around the US) needed an 8" X 8" square sign at all doors into the office (we have 4) that show a handgun with the circle/slash through it...in otherwords - NO GUNS ALLOWED!  Well, duh.  SO, I printed on a piece of paper the words "Sho-" and "Ninjas or Samurais" and taped them to the sign so that it said "No Sho-(picture of gun), Ninjas or Samurais." [no Shoguns, Ninjas or Samurais].  I thought is was slightly funny.  By the way, I did this on the sly - no one saw me do it.  Well, that lasted about 2 hrs before someone took my work down.  My friend Karen said the rumor was that the computer nerds who share our floor did it.  Karen thought is was hilarious as did several other coworkers.  My creative talent is being stunted at work.

So, what is it?  Am I a smart-alec (and I'll wear that title with pride) or am I just a closet stand up comedian?

Anyone noticed - we're missing a bliggity blog sister.  I sent Ben and Will email to ask them to help get Becky involved.  Nothing yet.  Maybe her head has come off her neck dealing with wedding??

Back from vacation.  I know it's a cliche but I needed to come home to relax from the vacation.

List of things that happened that maybe should have stayed in Las Vegas:
1)  Binoculars in case left at car rental check out caused an incident - never forget something that someone might consider a "bomb."
2)  Awesome seats to a great show about Elvis.  Don't tell Henry how much the tickets cost!
3)  Being awake for almost 24 hrs straight - UGH
4)  walking, walking, walking = sore leg muscles
5)  Panhandlers dressing up in costumes.  Want your picture taken with Darth Vadar or SpongeBob?  Give them some money first.
6)  Last casino we went to had...a gun & knife show, a horse cutting event, kids karate/judo contest & hosted a pharmaceutical convention.  What a mish-mash of stuff at one location (yes, people were walking around with guns and ammo - what the heck?) They did have 75cent hotdogs though.
7)  I got pulled aside at LV airport due to forgotten bottle of water in my bad.  I need an aspirin and I'm ready to go home.

It's nice to be home and back to regular schedule...although that means going back to work.

Did anyone notice I changed the background color?  And just in time for Valentines Day (or Valentimes Day as the preschool bunch calls it.)

Happy Valentines Day to some of my favorite people - Mom & Dad, Leslie, Bekcy and Alison  (I feel like I should now say "and make me a good little girl.  Amen.")

Can you believe - the first snowfall in KC this winter - 1/2 the way through February!

Saw the neatest thing....my office is across the street from Deer Creek GC.  There were 6 little deer playing around on the 10th fairway!  They all had big ears and no antlers.  The were chasing each other around the trees.  It really looked like little kids playing in the snow.  Ahhh.  Oh, and then one of the guys at work pipes up and says "I really need to get my gun."  RUN BAMBI RUN!

Here's a photo from a snowfall in KC last February (one of MANY last year.)

Notice the large boulder of snow left in my driveway by the friendly Olathe snow plow pros!

Last night I stayed up late enough to see a little bit of Jimmy Fallon's late night show.  He does a bit called "Thank you notes" (Leslie knows what I'm talking about) and this was one of his thank you notes -

"Thank you kidney beans for having a better name than spleen beans."

This just cracked me up.  So I ask you dear sisters, what little silly thing cracks you up?

Hi Sisters, this is kind of just a test, because I wasn't sure how to post --  not just reply to Gret's posts.  I will post more with some thoughts, but just to start out I will just say that I think this could be pretty fun.  But, please, I know I don't have to say this to you all but, please let's not be mean or get into arguments here.  We had a thing called Wurtzclan that was started a few years ago to help all the many Wurtzes keep in touch. It devolved into people fighting and insulting each other over politics and religion (and wedding ceremonies, for God's sake).  People have all -- including myself-- all unsuscribed and what could have been a really neat thing is no more.  So let's take the pledge:  I VOW TO BE SWEET TO MY SISSES.  Amen.

Yeah, about those photos - sorry.   And yes, this is for all me seestors!

My first post

My first post - thanks to my son for my Christmas gift - getting me set up on this.  He doesn't really have any patience but he owes me - I gave birth to him and I'm taking him out to dinner today.

I hope my sister will use this blog as a way to stay in touch with each other, share pictures, photos, recipes and other fun stuff.
